2,000 ACRES A DAY

Dear Editor,
Troubling me the most today are solar panels and data centers. When these things are built that land will be out of ag production for countless decades, if not forever. America is a big beautiful place, but I have yet to learn whether solar panels taste better with ketchup
or mustard on them? According to the American Farmland Trust, we are losing 2000 acres of ag land every day due to these and other purposes. What are the results of this land going out of ag production besides less calves and crops being raised? The price of food will continue to go up and more of it will be grown in other countries! The price of land in Limestone County in the last 50 years has gone from $335-6000 per acre for
plain pasture. That's chump change.
The data center on the south side of Hubbard paid $30,000-40,000 per acre for thousands of acres. Sadly, I do not have a solution that does not infringe on land owners' rights. It
has solidified the fact that unless you inherit or marry into a viable size ranch, you
can pretty well forget about being a rancher. As individual land owners in Texas you can
still choose to say NO to these projects! God Bless Texas and America, and save us from our insatiable greed and our politicians, from the court house to D.C. who have received campaign donations, which are legal, from all
these interests!
